Claire Elise Boucher is a Canadian singer-songwriter and musician. Her first work is described as stretching from "lo-fi R&B" to futuristic dance-pop. It has included influences from electronic music, hip-hop, and rock. Many of her lyrics focus on sci-fi themes and feminist concepts. The singer has recorded five albums. Grimes was born and raised in Vancouver but moved to Montreal in the year 2000. Grimes started releasing her music in solo fashion in the early 2000s. There were 2 albums that were issued by Arbutus Records in 2010, Geidi Primes as well as Halfaxa during 2010. The following year, she signed with 4AD and became a household name with the release of her third album Visions which came out in the year 2012. Visions includes the singles "Genesis," and "Oblivion", which was considered for The Juno Award of the Canadian Music Industry for Electronic Album of the Years. In the years following, the fourth album of her studio, Art Angels, was released in 2015 and received reviews of praise, as several magazines called it the top album of 2015. The fifth album, Miss Anthropocene, was out in 2020. Grimes is an official judge of Alter Ego, a music contest. Grimes was also a participant of Cyberpunk 2077 2020 role-playing game.
